Skincare on a Budget: How to Glow When You Can’t Splurge

PS - This is a made up magazine cover for a laugh! Not real.

Living Well on a Budget: Simple Skincare Tips

We’ve all been there—living on a tight budget where splurging on a visit to the esthetician or high-end skincare products just isn’t an option. Not everyone is lucky enough to afford those luxuries. But don’t worry! I’ve been in that position myself. In fact, it wasn’t until a few years ago that I really started investing in skincare.

One thing I did prioritize, though, was my diet, hydration, and supplements—basically everything I put inside my body. While I didn’t start using actives until my late thirties, I always made sure to focus on liver detoxes and supplements to boost my overall health. But that’s a story for another day.

Let’s talk skincare today. One ingredient I absolutely adore is glycerin. It’s a fantastic humectant that keeps moisture locked in and draws water into the skin without feeling heavy. A simple mix of rosewater and glycerin is great as a prep step before applying other products. For a night routine, I still use glycerin, mixing it with a good facial oil before bed—your skin will thank you in the morning.

Even if you’re not into skincare or too busy to think about it, I highly recommend using something to protect and nourish your skin. It’s the least we can do for the one organ that protects us from the outside world. Don’t wait until you’re in your fifties or sixties to start a solid routine. Begin early to reap the benefits long-term.

Here are a few of my go-tos:

Rose Water Mist - Heritage Store $6:49

Glycerin + High quality oil (at least invest in one good oil) I love

Glycerin - Heritage Store $12.99

Budget Oils - Jojoba + Clove Oil (Mix the two Jojoba being the carrier oil)
